I've done a search. However I can't seem to find anyone having trouble fitting the XR8 snorkel to a series one forté. It goes on easy enough, its just the bonnet won't close and I don't understand why, the only difference between it and the smaller one is the width of the throat. Any ideas?

I can't tell. I filed some off the lip on the bottom seeming that was getting marks on if. Also I can see where the rubber is going and it seems to be on the correct spot. Could it be at the back where it starts slopping down?

Did you leave the screwdiver under there? Gets me all the time.

Ohh well, was worth a try. Every time Im under the bonnet, I cant get the bonnet to shut. Theres alway a screwdriver, Socket, something sitting in there not letting it close. I actually found a peice of quartz in there the other day, it was the size of a baseball. I have no idea how it got under there, or for how long its been under there. Weird.

Didn't move the airbox. I used hair gel to find where it was touching, seems to only be on the rubber. It looks like for some reason the metal where the snorkel sits is propping the new snorkel up. So I'm thinking I may have to bend it with vice grips or something. Its never a straight swap! :P

Make sure it sits perfectly within the indentation in the radiator support panel, I've heard on some snorkels you have to trim the lower section corners (where the screws sit) as they don't follow the profile exactly which causes the snorkel to "sit up".

Question, and sorry to highjack.. are there two different Tickford snorkels? Say a Xr6 one, and a Xr8 one.. or is there simply one?

Its very odd that your snorkel doesnt fit. I had no problems fitting mine, i just screwed it in. Have you got any pics of it installed? I might be able to compare it to mine and see if there is any difference....

I had to drive the car so the old snorkels in. I have butchered this new one a bit in my attempts to get it in. And yes it does seem to be sitting up as you say Dok. However it seems to be caused by the side closest to the engine where the snorkel sits.

Have you got any pics. I wonder if it is the angle at which the snorkel joins the airbox?

I'll get pics of it tomorrow. As a side note it set me back $30 from Keira Ford in Wollongong. From what I've read thats about as cheap as you can get one.

Mine went straight in, the only thing with it, is that the screw holes are slightly to close together causing the bottom lip seems to bow up in the middle

My BAXR6T one went on perfectly. If it doesn't line up, maybe you should ask for it to be swapped with another.

They are the same thing. I believe that the XR6T snorkel is even listed as the replacement part for the AUXR8 snorkel which is no longer produced.
