Long story short I ****** up and blew the main fuse, the big 120 amp one under the bonnet. I know that the fuse box on the drivers side has to be taken out to replace it as it bolts up from underneath and i've undone all the bolts holding the box down but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get to the underside of it as I can't pull the fuse box up high enough to get to the bolt holding the fuse because of the wiring. Any one had to do this before and if so how did you get under it. Was a lot easier on the EL.

I can't help you but what you're describing sounds odd to me. I thought the big fuses/relays were under the bonnet.
In anycase, there should be plenty here to help. I bet JC would have an idea or two! All the best with it. BTW, how did you blow it exactly? GK

Got it!!!!! Had to pull out the inner section of the engine bay fuse box (the yellowy greeny white section) and undo the two 13mm bolts holding it in. Now off to Ford to get a new fuse.

I think the moral of this story is don't try to save a few seconds by not making sure the negative lead to the battery is properly disconnected and out of the way of the terminal. If I had just done that, like I usually do, I wouldn't have ended up in this mess. Even had to join up with the RACV and all they did was come out and say 'nah I don't have one of them fuses, you'll have to wait until start of business tomorrow" bloody tool I told them what was wrong before they came out.
