I'm looking through Ebay and saw add for slotted rotors and the picture was of generic non slotted rotor so I emailed him to ask to see photo of proper rotor. He obliged and now has correct photo on his add. Now the issue is he advertises these as suiting Au 1998 on but the specs (thickness) of rotor only suit Au not AUII or AUIII. see
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/501-gold-slot...QQcmdZViewItem and the next listing is for the fronts http://cgi.ebay.com.au/500-gold-slot...QQcmdZViewItem Do I keep after him til he gets it right? or am I wrong with my facts? :

I saw this one and thought the same. Keep pushing or politely ask him for more info.

Technically, his ad is correct. 501s (rear) and 500s(front) fit AU, which is 1998 onwards. AU2/3 got 503 (r) & 502 (f). Then there are the 506s, 507s, 42102s etc for the bigger brake packages to suit AUs (and some BAs). I'm sure if you want a price for the AU2 equivalent, the difference wouldn't be much, just make sure you get the 502/503 (back/front).
Also, they are a very good price, but quality is unkown - never heard of UPC, but who's to say they're not as good as RDA or DBA. I would ask if they are ADR compliant, or even if they've been certified or pass Australian Standards. If they do either, then at the price they are certainly worth trying. As a price comparison, I got a set of RDA 503s for the back of our wagon for $200 including delivery from Melb to Canberra. The DBAs on the front cost $270 a pair from a local supplier. So $130 odd for straight slotteds is cheap.

thanks JC thats why I didnt want to go off half cocked but it still misleading that someone with an auII may think its good value and buy them. I'm sure the seller is Ok but it may cost someone extra postage to correct it.

thanks EvilChief - youve taught me something I did not know. excellent. now what would be the issues of putting Au rotor on an auII - say the fronts which seem to be the biggest difference

the 5 mm diff mean the actual position of the caliper is about 5mm further towards the outside of the car. i guess technically it may bolt in, and may operate due to the caliper movement tolerances, but i would never ever risk that, once the pads wears down u may pop the piston out.

ok got this reply and I suppose if they do as they say it would be ok
good morning the 502/503's are the same buy now price for front and rears $129 pair or curved $149.50 pair the AU auction you were talking about on the 500's was copied word for word from our catalogue and i see DBA have the same info in there catalogue so i'm a bit reluctant to change it even though you are correct. we'll normally check chassis no.s and years with the customer before sending any rotors as a precaution. cheers lorry interesting he mentions dba catalogue
