What happened to Limp Bizkit???

Was going through some old music tonight and came across one of Limp Bizkit's which got me thinking "they used to crank!"

I don't remember them releasing much lately, so where are they now?

I think there was a few contributing factors, including 2 crap Albums (New old songs and Result may Vary) after the 3 excellent albums (3 dollar bill yall, significant other and chocolate starfish) as well as their music being no longer "fresh".

As well as the legal issues with the girls death at BDO in 01 and Wes Borland leaving, the band was never "complete" again and they faded off the scene.

Fred Durst is filming in a movie at the moment.

well just visited the bizkit website and they got a new album out 'the unquestionable truth part 1'. there is only one other band that i can listen to every song on there cd and like it and that is powderfinger.

Fred Durst happened to Limp. He turned into a tool!

Also Wes Borland left which kind of meant there was no talent in the group. He left because he said they were going no where and he wanted to be more creative.

I used to like them with there first album, tried to like them with the second but by then they had lost there way.

the unquestionable truth part 1 was the worst album i've ever heard in my life. only had 6 songs or something on it too. They completely changed the sound and it didn't seem to work... at all. Chocolate starfish was a great album, but nothing will beat their original 100 dollar bill yall album. Significant other had some great songs on it too. I quite liked results my vary, but after that they ... changed.

AFAIK the guitarist left and the band split. Simple. It happends. It's a shame as LB sounds awesome cranked!!

Who Cares.

They were OK as far as the bands of today go, but they are just like all of the bands that have 3 months of music lessons then record an album. Years ago you had to be almost virtuoso to get any kind of record deal; and as such people like Vai, Satriani, Eric Johnson, van halen etc made sure that kids became fretboard junkies.
Now you only need three chords to make an album. What a crock.

Actually, a mate of mine was in a music store the other day doing some appreggios, and this tool from one of these new bands comes over and wants to know what appreggiator he was using because it sounded "mad".
When he explained that he didn't know what an appreggiator was, the guy basically got him to demonstrate how he achieved the sound. Apparently he was dumbfounded.
Is this the kind of musicians we have today; of course I mean all of you guitarists out there who play or have played when the guitar was called an axe, when mullets ruled and when leather wasn't a sign of gay.
Don't get me wrong, I was clapping in the mid to late 90's with some of the music but this seattle revivalist crap is now just ultra boring. We have people like Knoll and Sebastian, not to mention rip off traders and Avril (one hit wonder) Lavigne. Add to that every single wanna be rapper and clone of eminem; you're left with little choice other than to think that music these days really does suck, and don't even get me started on James Blunt the silly little............

With James Blunt, I've heard two cats having sex that sound more melodious than him. What a ball-less girly looking weed.

What about Hendrix, The Beatles, The Stones etc? All these bands just taught themselves and they are some of the most popular ever. Basically they were hacks just experimenting and only played 3 or 4 chords per song. That was in the 60's. The days of Vai, Satriani, Eric Johnson, van halen are long gone because no one wants to sit and listen to a 20 minute solo. Sure they are good guitarists but thats not just what music is about.

I guess what I'm saying is that bands being uneducated in guitar playing is not just exclusive to bands of today or the 90's. Sometimes actual songwriting is more impotant (James Blunt as much as I hate him has songwriting skills.)

Yeah I think the guy can't sing to save himself but a lot of people think he is a great singer. It all just depends on what you think a good muso is.
As for you're story about you're mate doing arppedgios I have been playing the guitar for 27 years(yes back when they where called axes) and I get this alot from younger musos. First they laugh at the guitar I play ( jackson dkmg with floyd rose) then they laugh at my rack (yes I said rack) that is full of ada mp1 pre amps and a whole pile of other stuff from the late 80's early 90's.
Then when I play they usually go very quiet and sulk in a corner because they cant laugh at me anymore .
I listen to music to hear good musos thats why I listen to the music I do. I never listen to the radio because just about everything they play is rubbish that is only there to make money. My pet hate is all the female singers these days. Their songs are rubbish and the only reason they are there is to flash their boobs and bums at us . Nothing wrong with that but why dont they stick to playboy or penthouse and stop taking jobs away from real musos.
And as for limp bizkit, well not realy my cup of tea but at least they play instuments.

Ah Hendrix was the steve vai of the 60's.
I am a guitar player and even I dont want to listen to 20 min guitar solos. I too want to listen to well constructed songs I just want to hear good musos playing them thats all . I agree with you there have been bad musos with hit songs since way back .

I agree that Hendrix was the Steve Vai of the 60's and probably inspired most guitarist from then on. But in the end he was uneducated about guitar (and also music scales, notes, etc,) and just hacked it out until it sounded really good. I own albums from Vai, Satch and the like, I even listen to them but mainly for studying and learning.

I agree with you there , His guitar was not even in tune most of the time.But I challenge anyone to keep a fender strat in tune and use the trem like he did. By the way I am not a hendrix fan, far from it but I just didnt think he fitted in the 3 chord wonder catagory. I allso am uneducated about the guitar I cannot read music I learn stuff by ear and I do not know all the scales and modes but that does not mean I cant play as well as someone who can.
I must admit I dont own a vai or satriani album and I have never realy listened to any of their songs. As you said it gets a bit boring listening to a song that is all guitar solo even for me.
I think musos listen to music differently than non musos. A real muso wants to listen to something that will challenge them and a non muso listens to what they think sounds good regardless of how challenging it is to play(because they cant so why do they care). I am not bagging non musos ,each to their own ,I just think people listen to music to get different things out of it.

Hes one of those guys who thinks he rules the world and every one should bow down to him.

You get the guys like Vai and Satriani who make your jaw drop but they are actually nice guys. Will stop and chat to people, sign autographs and guitars and have photos taken and stuff.

But Malmsteen....hes not such a nice guy. Yells at people. Isnt nice to fans. Yells at them and makes fun of them if they try to get an autograph and theres a particular story about him blowing up on a plane and screaming and carrying because hes a god or some crap.

I listen to there stuff and am amazed but sometimes certain songs just bore me.

And as someone else said, everyone likes different music and different things apeal to different people.

I listen to everything. Ranges from metal to hip hop and dance. There is some very good musicianship and song writing skills in hip hop and dance tracks. Listen to some Jay Z and even Eminem. They come up with some amazing tracks. Tracks that suck you in and you cant get them out of your head. Awesome beats and melodies and such.

And Eminem is a very shrewed business man too. Its all about the money these days. Not too many bands out there playing just cos they love it.

If you are a musician and like to be challenged, I'll almost guarantee you will appreciate Tool.
