No pics sorry but hunt around for funnel web spiders (sydney) and redback spiders (all over aust).
Couple of nasty little buggers, those two. Ive never seen a funnel web but redbacks are very common in gardens/garden sheds etc.

LOL try a spider you can put a 2L icecream container over and have the legs stick out, good old harmless huntsman. Redbacks are not common in Victoria. It's the common black house spider that is more likely to be the one to bite you. It will make you feel pretty awful but you are unlikely to die. Funnelwebs are basically the only spider that will actually attack, though you are a few hundred times it's size they will have a go, they also eat the house spiders so they aren't all bad.
And remember guys, we leave the seat up so our females don't get bit on the bum by something hiding under the rim of the seat. Post if you will check from now on so I can laugh some more :P

If you like hiking/camping anything outdoors, look up our snakes they are more fun. There's a good reason snake handlers are clearly fudging their man panties when looking after aussie reptiles.

I've got stories but no pictures I'm afraid mate. Those little black ones don't sound too familiar - whereabouts in Oz are you? They don't have white tips on their butts do they?
I know a bit about spiders because I'm so very very very afraid of them! lol

Well.. here in Sydney we're blessed with having the deadliest spider in the world - the Sydney Funnelweb Spider...
Their venom (males are the deadlier ones) specifically targets the primate nervous system... so if you're a human or a monkey, they're pretty nasty things. We've also got redbacks, other types of funnelwebs and God knows what else.

I think funnelwebs and the redback are the only ones that can kill you. Others may bite but these 2 are the ones to avoid.

What about this nice pet... (Amazonian Giant Centipede)
http://markmlucas.com/images/inverta...0giant%201.jpg Or you could go for the biggest spider in the world, the Goliath Bird Eating Spider... Now these things DO get to be the size of a dinner plate... 24-28cm long http://www.gotaxe.com/gallery/albums..._underside.jpg http://www.gotaxe.com/gallery/albums...th_topview.jpg |

Wouldn't have to worry about much, they aren't poisonous and only grow to about 5-6" across the legs. |

FYI...the small black white tail spider will not kill you per se but its venom begins a state of necrosis which if not treated can lead to amputations or death...slow and lingering...same as the daddy long legs. Although most ppl are not affected by the daddy long legs there are those that are.
With the red back or the american black widow..which is the redback...can make you very sick and death is not common.
