Hi
there may be a thread on this, i dont know, but i am looking for a nice 5.1 system for my computer. No i am not a nerd, but i hate crappy sound ! I have been looking at either Logitech X-5500 ($450)or the lower, Z-5300 ($240). Anyone here have either of these ? Can you tell me what you think of them ? Or any other 5.1 system you bought for around that price range ? Regards Luke

I recommend logitech they have a rich sound..
Although you are not confined to "computer speakers", have a look at cheap home theater setups because they can be easily used with a computer too. |

Altec Lansing, i bought a 5.1 system of theirs a while ago on sale for $150, and saw it on the weekend for $100 on sale again!
Its a good system, even if the dog chewed through a cord. But i cant get the rears working for the surround sound

Geez $500 for a 'pc' 5.1 system...
Hmm I guess i'm just too much of a portable computing fan - i'd prefer to upgrade to a home theatre setup for $1100 such as some of the advert's on telly at the moment.

I got some Logitech 2.1 speakers, I'm real impressed with them since they've been running on integrated sound until I get my sound card on Monday. So I would definitely recommend Logitech.

THanks for the feedback guys, i picked up a set of Logitech Z-5500D for 'the right price'. And damn they are awesome ! Not as versatile as a good home theatre setup, like i have in the loungeroom, but , afterall, it is a computer !!! :
Thanks again

Hey, unless you are serious about setting up the 5.1 system properly (fronts, rears etc) I would opt for a 2.1 ch. No crappy wires hanging around either.
I had a 2.1ch altec lansing set we were selling at work and it pumped - best sounding PC setup i've ever heard. I currently have my old home stereo system hooked up - just get a headphone to 2x RCA female adapter from crazy clarks for $2 to plug into the pc and a length of RCA cable and there you are, fantastic setup !

Ive got a Voxon System which i can use with my comp and TV which cost $200.
When i have parties i hook it up to the comp (to use with Winamp cause when your drunk you dont want to change CDs lol) and plug huge speakers into it and combined with the sub cranks pretty crazy. |
