SWITCHFOOT!
Graceful melodies, powerful lyrics. This has to be by far one of the best new bands of recent times. I only just bought their latest album "A beautiful letdown" but its hot stuff. Whether you're a christian or not I strongly suggest you go check them out. Every single song on the album is worth listening to, its all very well composed and definetly worth listening to over and over. Has anybody heard or heard of them? Great stuff!

Can you compare them to another band? I'll probably check them out if it's the sort of music I'm into.

I don't think Switchfoot is anything special- 'Beautiful Letdown' is too simple and repeatative. Theres only one Christian band I have any time for and thats POD, but they haven't released any new stuff for a long time, or nothing that I've heard of.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought 'I don't care what they say, Switchfoot will always be my all time favourites' lol. I was a fan of Switchfoot when they first came out when I was in Highschool so about 9 or 10 years ago now. It was really only the Christian community that knew about them then, until they had about 4 or 5 songs in the movie 'A Walk to Remember' and the rest of the world discovered them. Some of their early stuff is really great. I haven't got much of the more recent stuff yet but I still like it when I hear it on the radio. They're kinda of a soft rock band I guess so most people could enjoy their music I think. I missed them when they came to Sydney last year so hopefully they come back again soon. Yay for Switchfoot.

Yeah they are not a bad band, POD are also another good christian group... the best satanic group would have to be metallica in that case... or Hetfield atleast..

POD? Good? What the hell are you people smoking?
I'm yet to hear a good christian band. Might have to stick to Black Sabbath. |

How is metallica satanic?! : Some of their stuff is awsome music, and its not satanic. Listen to Disturbed or System of a Down and you'll get satanic, even though they are both great bands. :sm_headba

Metallica is not stupid, nor satanic :P the lead singer has openly admitted to worshipping satan, his lyrics are awesome as is the music.
Just to stir things up a bit, i'm 99.99% sure that despite their lyrics, music and how they are presented, Slayer is a christian band... |

I had no idea they have been around for so long!
Actually I only really picked up on them when A Walk to Remember came out at the movies. Thought it was a pretty good flick, cried a few times during it. : Music was pretty nice too. Does anybody know where I can buy their older stuff from? couldn't find any previous albums on ebay.

Go to the music section and search switchfoot and it brings up all their albums plus an early years compliation of 3 cds. There's 5 albums so far.

Being an ex-born again, I must admit to enjoying Creed. It helps that the lead singer is an absolute honey... : :voldar02:

When I hear "satanic band" I think Darkthrone/Mayhem/The True Black Dawn etc. Black metal is more likely to come to mind than Slayer.
To answer the original comment, I doubt they're a chrisitan band somehow. Kumbaya Slayer, kumbaya.... No. I don't think so.

I hardly think slayer or metallica are satanic?? its not like they are sacrificing virgins or goats and drinking blood etc.. and if they are good on them, apart from the virgins - send them to me !!
**disclaimer** virgins must be human female and of legal age and size |

When I hear Satanic and music used together in the same sentence, the only two words that come to mind are those that encompass the pain, iritation and suicidal thoughts I harbour while its being played.
Australian Idol.

Heeno, its not like the sort of music your listening to, they are not really in the Genre of Christian, they just are christian, most of theirs songs have referance but their not full singing against god. If your into switchfoot, you's may like relient k, kind of the same ish. And for those into the heavier stuff, underoath, a "christian band" but theyve got some pretty heavy stuff. Really catchy also.
