Is there any talk of this car coming to AUS?
The mondeo is nice enough but a little large for what the missus wants to drive. We are after a TDI car, and has to be manual. Also needs room for 3 baby seats in the back as they are all under 4. At the moment the Forester TDi is winning, Golf Wagon or the Suzuki Grand Vitara TDI; even a Pug 308 Touring. I really want to keep it Ford but they seem to have some mental issue with having TDI and manuals, I cant even find a Mondeo in that spec. Might be worth hanging for the Kuga I guess.

Ford will never make any Diesel manuals.
I currently have a Focus Petrol on loan (GT getting some warranty) and its a great car. 7 litres per hundred, quiet and big enough for me at 196 cm and 120 kgs! I am seriously considering a Focus for work, I am over expensive V8's.

The new focus is a great looking car, and new autos are nice but she just has this thing for manuals. I find it quite refreshing but finding a car in this spec (well a Ford anyway) is becoming really annoying.
All other brands (well 90%) offer a manual TDI, they are readily available in Europe so I cant see what FoA's issue is.

As far as I'm aware there is no plans for the estate in OZ. Could change but.

Does Hyundai i30 wagon come in manual diesel? Too small perhaps? What about i40 for something more classy?

Does not the i30 have only a 1.6 liter diesel less grunt than the 2.0 liter ford diesel ( better economy however but may be pushing hard if you load the wagon up.

The Fiesta is still available in a Diesel Manual, however the Focus Diesel is 6 speed Auto Only. I'm getting around 1100kms per tank to mine which I'm very impressed with. The estate seems to be a UK think only, like we have a hatch where they don't...or they don't have the sedan...something like that.
3 seats fits across the back of the Focus no problems...we've tried it a few times, and even with those bid baby seats too. 18 months down the track we'll see Kugas with diesels in them...hopefully some manuals, but I wouldn't guarantee that...you never know what will actually be brought out until they get here really...

I got the Focus diesel only because the i30 only has a 4sp auto. Had it been 6 speed it would have been a hard choice.

Yeah this car is purely a daily to shop the kids around. I will get a new larger car later on to do all the hard work.
With all due respect a Hyundai will never fly, no matter how much they have improved. The killer is finding a car like above that can also fit a double pram...hence the wagon requirement. I dont really want a VW either, just a bit bland albeit reliable etc.

A few years ago diesels were unheard of in automatics, now that's all they come in..
