07 LT Focus Zetec Dash Removal.

Hey guys,

Just recently picked up a 2007 Ford Focus Zetec Sedan and want to wire up a Bluetooth car kit as its a daily, only a matter of time before I get in strife trying to use the phone while driving.

Now I've wired the same kit up in my other car, so the kit itself isn't a challenge, but I've no idea where to start when it comes to getting the stereo and so fourth out to do the wiring.

Hoping someone might be able to explain how I get the stereo out, along with the A piller (to run the mic) and the cover on the drivers foot well (to mount the speaker).

Also if someone happens to have a wiring diagram for the Zetec stereo, it'd go along way as to helping me work out which wire is which for 12v Constant and Acc, Earth and Tele Mute if it has that.

Hi Rhys, welcome aboard.

I asked exactly the same question matey, and ended up wiring to the rear of the ciggy lighter - against what the lads here suggested. Means my blutooth is on all the time, but that's OK for me. Only down side is that sometimes my 'car' rings when I'm at home or close enough to it!

To get the stereo out, you have to buy a set of stereo removal keys (x 4). You can get them really cheap off ebay. FOCUS STEREO REMOVAL KEYS. EbayUK is your best bet, and with postage should only be about AUD$6.00 all up.

Ignore the orange. It was for another thread. Think this is the same as normal plug.

You can also buy a specific loom that sits in between plug and stereo. They do exist here in OZ, but again UK is your best (easiest) bet. Company called NEXXIA do one.

If you cant be bothered with any of the above, there is a 12V pick up behind the glove box. Pretty sure there is a guide on here somewhere.

Regards the A pillar, I just pulled the rubber strip to one side, and fed the cable thru until I hit the dash. There is a small hole you can feed thru to under the dash. If you have any whippersnipper thread, I find that's easy enough to see and is stiff enough to poke thru and pull out from under the dash.

You can get to under your centre console by removing the side panels where it meets the dash. Gives you heaps of room to feed stuff thru and cable tie it.

Thanks for the detailed post, wiring diagram is exactly what I needed to know! I don't really want to hook up to the ciggie as I want the kit to turn on and off correctly when the car is turned on and off, so I don't need to manually connect the phone.

Once I've got the damn keys required to pull it out it shouldn't be an issue wiring to the headunit loom though, just then need to determine how to get the footwell cover off and A piller to mount the speaker and run wiring.

Should be a fun day pulling it all apart :P

Mark are you able to find the thread on the 12V power source behind the glove box? I have searched but can't find it. Thanks.

Hmmm, I cant either. But it's just the glovebox light/switch - which ever. Obviously the active side, not the switched side!

Ok now I have a big problem! Got the keys off eBay, put em in, they've clipped in but the head unit does not want to budge, and I can't get the keys out either!! So I'm basically stuck at the moment with the keys locked in place, and the head unit stuck too. Help!

I swung by my local autobarn to talk to the installer there, he doesn't seem to think it'd be a problem for him to get out, but I'd have to book it in so he's got time to get in around it and get it out.

Anyone had any experience with this before who might be willing to give advice/provide assistance?
