Hi all,
Does anyone know where to pick up some seat covers to fit a AUII wagon (front and rear). It my wifes and it our family car. Back seat fabric is starting to tear and wear and it looks rubbish. Any tips would be great as I have tried Ebay its not so good for the AU's. Thanks in advance. Fordavid |

I've not needed to find AU specific seat covers in the past (either for the plain fabric ones in the taxis or the sheepskin ones in my falcon), i've just always gone to autobarn/supercheap and bought a standard which isn't crap. You'll find they fit pretty well aye.

Yeah the off the shelf ones generally fit pretty well, I dunno about supercheap but Autobarn can order in custom covers made to suit your car. They can definitely get covers made for your wagon, not sure of the price though.

Don't know about wagons, but I've always been under the impression that for the rear of a sedan, the standard rear bench-style seat covers you get from Autobarn & Supercheap etc WON'T fit AU's, because of the built in headrest in the back???

I had originally thought so too, but I had some generic FPV covers for my old AU and they fitted fine. The headrests are so miniscule the covers fit no problems. They might look slightly stretched but thats about it.
EDIT: Dug up an old pic of them.

That's a good idea. People forget how well you can spruce up an interior with a nice set of floormats and some nice seat covers.
I think i used to change more seat covers in a fortnight than most people would in a lifetime

I got some custom made at autobarn about 4years ago. Cost $300 for front and back.
I tried the generic ones for the front but I didnt like the fit so i got them done custom, it was a black cloth material kinda like a wetsuit with a pattern on them. I just took them off today to give them a wash and it made me realise how ordinary the plain grey seats look. They do look quite good and fit very snug around the seats but I'd rather have leather seats. |

If your really keen about having nice seat covers for $600 maybe these would be the go.
Wonder if anyone here has got them and how good they are? Leather seat covers - ebay |

Most retailers just stock the generic size 60 seat covers for the front (with seperate headrest, or is that size 30 - one or the other) and the size 06 for the rear. The problem with the generic rear is that you need to fold both rear seats down if you fold them at all; so you lose ability to fold 60/40. However, Sperling do make custom sets in any of their styles to suit the 60/40 split. From memroy, these will set you back around $200 just for the rear. Autobarn/Supercheap etc will order them for you.
The generic fronts fit fine, and easiest way to fit them is to remove the seat from the car - it allows you to get them nice and tight and push the covers in over the sides better.
