What Security Features would a Fairmont Ghia Have????

Hi All

Just wondering what security features a S1 AU Fairmont Ghia would have from Factory???? Eg. alarm, imobilers, dash lights etc... What do I look for???

Being an AUI it will have Smartlock, Basically an immobiliser, with no dash light for it. It may have also been optioned with a Ford alarm.

It also should have locks.

Depending on what month it was built, it may have Smartshield instead of Smartlock.

Neither are that smart though.

User title says 98 so early AUI, so smartlock.

What's the difference betwwen the two??? So I gather I have smartlock!!!
Oh by the way I have a red LED beside the boot & fuel release someones fitted.... It doesn't flash or anything, don't know what it does???

Yes Smartlock you have, Smartshield came in in late AUI and is slightly better apparently. Don't know how, but it just is.

That LED sounds aftermarket to me.

Smartshield used a rolling code in the key, so you need the key with the correct chip inside to start the car.
