I won't pass judgement until i've watched the show...but i did read in that article that "Sydney Morning Herald motoring editor Josh Dowling will act as the motor industry consultant."
Now that's frightening.

Warren Brown was entertaining in that Fox show ' Peking to Paris' so he is at least a somewhat known commodity

I'll admit the team doesnt look so crash hot on paper, but then neather did the british one so I'll give it a chance. I'm hoping as its an SBS thing they will still be jsut as honust with the cars not like the comersial station motoring shows but if its all Falcodoors I'll be switching off rather quickly

i havent heard of any of them blokes before.... but then again i hadnt heard of the original top gear blokes before i started watching either so i'll give the new series a go, with any luck it will be just as good as the UK series and HOPEFULLY they will thrash the out of all the cars they drive!
wonder what track the "STIG" will be tearing up....... who is the stig?? ok its me! |

BBC Top Gear is a great show now... but you should have seen their episodes 10 years ago - which were very boring. Different presenters than we have now of course, no Clarkson! In the older shows they would never drive a vehicle fast - never ever! Bad influence etc etc.

As long as they don't follow the Top Gear formula, I'll watch. You can't out Top Gear the 3 in the UK. Could go either way, could go very well or could crash and burn horribly. Hopefully, if they're going to be testing a lot of our cars and not all exotics that have been done before, might stand a chance.

Yeah give them a chance. I'm really looking forward to it. Warren Brown was really funny when he used to do bits on JJJ and in the Peking to Paris show. Who knows. Amphibious vehicles across bass strait?? Now that would be a challenge. Who is the Stig???

If the show is half as good as the original version, it will be still worth watching. I just hope they will criticize a car if it deserves it and rate them on performance and not other crap like that car show on channel 9 on the weekends.

Channel 9's test drive is nothing but an infomercial paid for by the manufacturers. The FG special was clearly written word for word by Ford's marketing department. So you cant really blame the show for being biased, thats what they're paid to do. With Joshua Dowling aboard I have no doubt the VE has already won this years Top Gear's best car award. And mark my words the FG will be flamed for using "km/hr" on the speedo.

they will be rubbish for one simple reason.. SBS wanted people with clean driving records only... I dont know excalty how clean.. but I dont want to hear advice on cars from anyone with a clean driving record, unless they are rating a toyota crown

They'd have to do a build quality test where they fill up VE Commodore & FG Falcon cabins with water n see which one leaks the water faster. |

it should be good, heard on the radio today that they are expected to be rough with the cars (eg if they had the chance hang the car sideways round corners then they will) and every car company in australia wants to be on the show. but dont know whether that means just aussie built cars or like ferrari Australia, Audi Australia and so on, which would be better!!!
but im looking forward to it
