Default Are parts interchangeable

Im getting my bosses 2012 focus LW ambiente. Theres nothing at all wrong with it but i will be painting it.. its silver and i hate silver so its gonna be black.. a mate gave me a set of xr5 rims for it which got me thinking.. before i paint it i thought id find out if i can swap the bar and grille from an xr5 onto it or is that not possible.. bodywise they look the same but i have no idea if the connection points are the same or if it would even actually fit..

For the front bumper and grill, they will not fit on your car... The XR5T was based on the previous generation MK2 Focus (LS, LT and LV), and you have a MK3 Focus (LW, LZ), which has a different body shape and chassis, despite your LW looking pretty similar to the LV Focus...

As for the XR5T wheels, I did a quick Google search and I believe that they do fit, however not too sure on the offset, so I can't guarantee that they'll fit properly, though maybe try a test fit and see if they look good, if you're mechanically inclined...

A couple of things though, is your car a Powershift Automatic? They're horrible transmissions when it comes to reliability... How many km does your car have?

Ok cool cheers for that.. i did the same as you with the rims already and knew they would fit but there wasnt anything about the bars and grille that i could find.. now i see why…

Yeah ive read that the auto was crap.. thankfully mines a 5 speed manual.. clutch is smooth as.. it has 167,000 ks on it.. its been regularly serviced and is in immaculate condition.. except for the crappy standard rims and tyres and its silver theres nothing wrong with it... i hate silver so ill be painting it black..

But cheers for clearing that up for me, much appreciated..

Phew it's a manual and it has good service history, so I'm guessing it should be relatively trouble free... I reckon you shouldn't paint it black though, as you will lose resale value as it isn't the original colour... My advice would be to wrap it instead, as you can take off the wrap when it comes time to sell, whilst maintaining the original colour...

I understand what youre saying but im really not concerned with resale value.. ill be keeping it for a few years to come and also i only paid 500 for it..
getting a wrap put on would cost a minimum 3000 bucks but being im a spray painter by trade it will only cost me a few hundred for paint to paint it instead so thats a much cheaper option for me..
