I have one on my 2010 LV MKII, alas it's an EGR branded smoke-coloured one, not a Ford accessory. Mine has quite a few stone chips in it, so I would presume the answer is yes, it does its job.
If it's installed properly shouldn't do any damage at all...the little plastic strips ensure that... Mick
