Hello all just joined the focus club and this is my first post so would like to say hi. Owner of an 09 LV 2.0 tdci and it seems to run quite good accept for this smoking issue
Just bought this car and notice it smokes heavily (appears to be grey smoke) when I accelerate after changing gears around 2k. Seems it loses power too but im not sure on that. Only starts smoking after the car has warmed up it appears. Any help on this would be appreciated. Still has a few months on new car warranty so I am taking it in but would be nice to have a heads up before potential arguments with ford dealer |

I would say it is most likely to be an injector or fuel issue, however being down on power could also mean a turbo problem. I would expect that the dealer would be checking for leaks from the intercooler and other piping first. As this model is fitted with a DPF you shouldn't be able to see smoke at all, so there is definitely an issue there which will need to be rectified. I'd get it into your nearest dealer ASAP and make sure you list any other issues that might need attention whilst the warranty is valid

What sort of fuel are you running and where do you buy it. Do what Russ suggests but also change where you fuel and use if you arent already Caltex Vortex or BP Ultimate diesel. These 2 factor play a role in reducing smoke.
The extra cost couple cents for the premium diesel is well worth it. |

if not have them look at the turbo's exhaust side seal.. as it may be leaking oil into the hot exhaust pipe.

Keep pushing the issue and make sure they fix it whilst it still has warranty If you can't get any satisfaction from the dealer your using, if possible try another one if there's one in your area or not too far away

yeah taking it in again on monday.
Have a question though. When I put my key into accessory I can hear a whine noise and clicking coming from the engine bay, but it never stops. Is this normal ?
