yeah my jaw dropped when I learnt how cheap cars over there are
however, while I was over there, I noticed standard equipment levels are often a little lower I believe the US also has lower levies on cars not to mention the current exchange rate and the income of an average US citizen and it's not so bad afterall but yes, they still do have an edge |

Don't forget US prices do not include sales tax, so add 4-10% to that price for most states.

Their focus is built in america. I'd rather it our way and have the proper german built one. Plus their models come as standard and they have to add all the packs onto it, and that's when the price starts to rise abit.
Personally, i like the look of ours better aswell. |

The Focus in the US has four different trim levels. The S, SE, SEL and finishing with the Titanium. The model you’ve quoted is the equivalent to our Focus Trend, give or take some specifications and obviously some factory options they’ve fitted.
Ford US list their Focus Titanium starting price just under $23K for the hatch + taxes and delivery etc. Equipment wise it misses out on some of the things we get, like 18” alloys, satellite navigation (though they get a much larger touch screen satellite navigation system as an option), heated front seats, leather trimmed seats, rain sensing wipers, active park assist and some other minor things. But they also get a few different items, like MyKey, MyFord Touch, a subwoofer with their Sony Audio and satellite radio standard. Adding the items that we get as standard equipment, the car comes closer to $27K + taxes and delivery etc by using Build Your Own. Considering the going rate for a Titanium is Australia 2.0 GDi PowerShift is around $35K, and neglecting the fact you could get the price down in both the US and Australia with some good old fashioned haggling, the price gap becomes much more realistic. The US has always payed much less for their cars than we do, but there are reasons behind this. Never judge a book by its cover.

The US Focus is made in Mexico isn't it?

Maybe I'm alone here, maybe I;m stuck in the old days, but who would pay for rain sensing wipers??? I can judge pretty well if it's raining or not all by myself and would rather have the option of saving the cash. Having to pay for gimmicks like that to get others that you do want is just gouging..

I found it disappointing that the LW Trend is underspecced compared to the LVII LX, but the US Focus SE doesn't even come with rear discs!

the 'sync' touchscreen system they get on the US focus is awesome. way way way better than the 1980's-spec screens the aussie focus's come with.

Having a read at the U.S. Ford site FordFanatics.com, I noticed that their Focus also comes with lifetime drivetrain warranty !!! This is to remove fears about the new DSG type transmission because Volkswagen Golf tranny problems are a big news in the U.S.

i have owned several french cars with them and they're a nice feature. it's not so much turning the wipers on or off that they're good for, it's automatic adjustment of the wiper speed that saves you playing with the intermittent setting. i figured that the package of auto headlights and auto dimming rear view mirror was probably worth the $230 extra it cost. |

Not Focus related but can i just mention that i was taken for a spin around San Diego a few months ago in a Shelby 5.4 litre supercharged 2012 model Mustang. Total cost to my associate off the showroom floor $54,000 USD! So don't tell me we aren't ripped off in Australia.

Our current Volvo has the rain sensing wipers, I've used them maybe twice!!!!
We pick up our new Titanium on Thursday and it also has them. I couldn't delete them as they are a standard feature. Time will tell if they're worth it or not. I can still judge for myself the amount of water blocking my view of the road ahead.....
