Hiya, I know the AU 2 had an alloy sump, did the Au 1 or can a normal steel sump be fitted, trying to figure out if the engine in a race car i just got is an EF or AU, been told its an AU motor, its in an EB and bar in front of sump looks like its been moved forward, sump is steel.

hi mash, the best way to tell an AU block is usually by the rocker cover. take a picture, and the clever critters on here will be able to advise you.

All AU 6's had alloy sumps.
Rocker covers are easy to change. Sumps not so much but it wouldn't be impossible. Usually the bar gets moved to fit the alloy sump. Is there a water temp sensor on the back of the head?
