I didn't think there was any difference - T5Z is a figment of people's imagination. A bit like a C10.

A real T5Z is a Ford Motorsport product made by Tremec for 5.0L Mustangs, it is the highest spec T5 Tremec made, apparently among other things it has a slightly stronger gear set along with a wider use of tapered roller bearings rather than needle bearings. Around these parts people like to call a AUV8 or BAXR6T 5 speed a "T5Z", Ours are set up the same internally but if you were to go and order a "T5Z" from Ford Motorsport it wouldn't fit!! (input shaft is different length for starters).
Probably the easiest way to find out what T5 it is would get the serial numbers off the small alloy tag that's hanging of the extension housing and give Mal Wood Automotive a call. Craig. |
