The EF/EL instructions are here:

I have tried it successfully from GLi, Fairmont Ghia to DF LTD.
It's very easy on the EF/EL, but can be complicated if you have a police cluster

Not sure why they made it so much harder for the AU

Have used it many a time .... was trying to diagnose if the PCM and dash were receiving readings from the LPG senders on the tanks ... could see the actual Impedence readings going outside the range during driving ... and then seeing the fuel gauge react at the same time.

Also was testing during my overheating issues with the coolant temp (actually cylinder head temp sensor in the back of the head) ... I was able to see what temperature the gauge was at at different sections. Has been handy a few times.

There's a few threads around on it here that have been posted previously under AU dash diagnostics ... with results from different people.

I've tried this and my oil pressure reads as 0, yet I get no warning light in normal mode. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Cheers

Matt.

It's more of a binary thing.

0 = no warning light (good)
1 = warning light (bad)

That will be because in your car (low series dash), they have a oil pressure switch. When the pressure reaches a certain level it switches and the oil light on your dash comes on. Mine is the same, always zero.
On the high series dash, they have a oil pressure sender, due to have a oil pressure guage on the cluster.

Cheers

...which might as well be a switch because it only ever shows one value

only 1/2 right there! the "gague" on the S2/3 is a fake and uses a switch not a sender it just reads 3/4 or 0 and does not vary. only the S1 got a real gague. that is why as twistedEL says it only shows one value
