Hi guys i have a AU 5.0L, and i am loosing oil pressure when my car gets to normal running temperature and idling at the lights, but then builds back up to normal once cruising. I also noticed this is made worse when the aircon is on.
I did the normal things, checked oil, its full! And theres no leaks anywhere. Any suggestion?? Oil sender? Oil to thin? another earth? thanks guys |

Could be anyting from bad oil/sender to worn main bearings, first thing to try would be to change the oil, maybe use something a bit thicker, I run 20w in mine.

Is the HOT oil pressure level lower than "normal" (when HOT) or are you just noticing the usual difference between COLD and HOT oil pressure?
I'd be getting the COLD and HOT pressure checked with a proper, external gauge before I'd be getting to worried ... |

Is it series 1? Ford know about it, it's a faulty earth wire. The can replace it but will cost you for labour. My series 1 TE50 did the same thing.

Cool, as I said it's almost certainly just the earth wire. When mine did it I had it tested and had the sender unit replaced only to find out that it was a 20c wire.

Same thing happened with my fairmont,
Faulty earth wire, replaced and bingo fixed! If it doesn't work then move to testing other things.
