I realised this morning just how much I really love my car.
Hubby and I are often fighting over who gets to drive the beast. I get cranky because I am the Ford lover ...not him and we bought the car because of me. Every time he takes it out I get anxious because twice now he has scratched it, first he swiped another car...could polish it off no probs. Second time took a small scraping of paint off...will have to be fixed at panel beater because it is too obvious (and it shits me every time I look at it). This morning he came home after having hit (obliterated) a bird on the M4. There were feathers everwhere and all over the radiator. Had to pull the front of the car apart to get them all off. As he drove away I realised the benefits of him driving off while I stand on the front verandah waving good bye...I get to listen to the rumble of a V8 engine and smile at the beauty of it all. (It's just not the same inside the car because it is too quiet). I love my car! |

His car was a 1990 Carolla which was his mum's and then became his. he ran it into the ground. It annoys me that I worked hard to pay off my little Lazer and I looked after it. It was only when he started driving it that it got scratches all over it. I smashed it once, but it was not my fault. I was stopped and had someone run up the back of me. The week I got it back from the smash repairer his mum scraped her car on the rear bumper reversing out of her garrage (mine was in the driveway well out of the way). Then his next step up was a BA XR8....where is the having to work for it? Oh yes that's right he pays the loan hehehehe. Still doesn't give him the right to drive like a spaz. |

Oh and I am the one waving goodbye cause he gets to drive it to work. He works out at Penrith so he travels along the M4 and cleans out the cobwebs so to speak. He kindly informed me that he got it up to 180km on the way home this morning...which is all good and well but he knows crap about how to control a vehicle if it all turns to sh.. so to speak.

Ban him from driving the car! 2 scrapes is 2 too many!
Don't put out and he'll soon get the message! And congrats on a great car |

She's pretty standard I haven't done anything special to her yet...the plan is to get bigger wheels and a lower front grille. And to fix up the paint scraping (not seen in this pic was done after). Not sure if it's worth fixing the scrapes at the front when we have gone over the speed humps too fast. A lot of that was done before we got our hands on it.
She came with leather interior, momo steering wheel, premium sound, sun roof and all that jazz. |

my wife is belting me everyday to convert the xy from manual to auto so she can drive it again, only because my 8 month old loves going for cruises in it, he hates the sp20.

HMMMM! sounds like my house if my wife is first out the door she grabs the GT.
Brings it back empty as she's an absolute lead foot. :eclipsee_ But she went back to work so I could buy it so maybe just maybe she can drive it occassionly, sometimes. |

Its good to know that more girls are becoming passionate about their fords. I see too many 20 something year old chicks driving around in astras and hyundai getz so its nice to see a change :

Yeah, I love mine too. :
Bought it with 20000ks on it and now 43000ks later and I just love it, my missus loves it, and Ive given it plenty at times and its never missed a beat :the_finge I would have settled for an auto but she wanted a 6spd manual so that was that. Mind you every time I get in it now Im glad she won out.... Would I buy it again if I had my time over?? Hell Yeah :eclipsee_

Hi Gang
I too am part of the Blueprint BA XR8 club and love/enjoy it more than any other car I have owned. I am lucky in that my Mrs doesn't enjoy driving my XR : She would much rather drive her new little Suzuki 4wd which is just fine with me : The only mod I have done is a lower bar grille (Which I have smashed a few times) and a cold air intake. The CAI is great as it gives it a bit more intake noise (read growl) under acceleration. The lower bar grille is a pain as I have gone through a few dips/gutters and bent the crap out of it. Funny how the plastic bumper goes straight back into shape and the metal grille stays buckled. Cheers Haycait |

I can sympathise with your lower grille problem too :

yeah but my other car's a lazer...although it has copped a hiding from me. It's one small car that actually has balls. My dad wanted to swap his VP commodore with me when I first got it cause you can tear **** around in it and it still has grunt. I am passionate about the fords. My eyes are blue and oval shaped. I love them (cars that are loud and grunty) so much I am desperate to go to Summernats this year...I don't think my hubby wants me to go and totally not his domain. My ex bf would never let me go either cause he said it's not really a nice place for girls. Will just have to track down a couple of my mates who can come with me let me drink p*ss but look after me just in case. |
