I use only 98Ron in the wagon, but since the rest of the family is driving my car while I am on a suspended licence and damaging it they dont care and use what ever is cheapest.

I use 98Ron in the EL. The car loves it, but I don't love it when it's done 300 odd kays and the fuel light is on...

Wow! This thread is over 12 months old. Well I have changed my mind. As of late last year I have been running Mobile 8000 in the TS50 as advised by a member (Headsex). And what a difference! No more Optimax for me. The Windsor takes to it really well. I knew the inlet manifold had "Synergy 5000" on it, but didn't think it had any relevance. I'm getting 80-100 km's more out of a full tank now than what I was getting with the Optimax, and she's running so much better in general.

Caltex Vortex. The difference between premium and regular is very surprising in my BA XR8. Its a dead stock auto which easily churps second and gets sideways from the lights in the dry when running premium. Although it costs me $105 to fill the tank...

Premium in whatever service station I pull into really. Mostly woolies, so it would be Caltex Vortex for me too. $90 a tank now a days to refill.

91 standard unleaded. I haven't found a gain before using anything in a higher octane.

The XF I tuned when I had a tank of BP Premium (95 octane) so is happier on 95 than 91.

The option "LPG, BBQ fuel but sucked in, its cheap as!" isn't quite so apt any more as i regularly see it hit 70cents around my area, and since it burns about twice the rate of ULP, that works out about the same as filling it with petrol (and getting the benefit of petrol power, and no conversion cost).

I'm going to start running my girl on PULP 98.. the extra $10 give or take isn't that much more of a pain when you're paying $80 anyway lol. Plus i did something stupid and put Safeway petrol in, and it's running like an 83 camira.

Anyone tried the Shell 100 octane ? Wonder if that's worth it..

PULP always, being a Jap import they are manufactured for over 100ron fuel and don't like anything less than clean 98ron+

I use premium in my XR8, though its painful, $1.55 per litre now and im spending nearly five hudnred a month on fuel :(

Im thinking of buying a cheap hatch to run to work and back in, its about 85ks a day so the bulk of my fuel goes on getting to work.

Lush if your going to do that as a purely economic decission, remember a 4 cyl will still cost you $350-400 a month to run so a saving of $100-150 per month which surely would be consumed by the additional $400 registration, $500 comp insurance, depreciation, maintenance (servicing, tyres, everything else) does it add up having two cars?

Thanks Chevy, Im also thinking of doing it though as I run up a lot of ks, at one stage I was putting 1000ks a week on my last ute, and wouldnt mind trying to keep this one down a bit also

But yes, fuel is just too blo*dy expensive these days. I really think about what I do of a weekend now, going into town to go the bigger shops is $25 a go these days.

Agh, the good old days when it was $1!

yeah my first car (in 1997/8) was a Statesman DeVille with a 350 V8 on lpg (LPG was 15-25c per litre?) , i drove it EVERYWHERE on pocket money ($50 a week) to get from Emerald to RMIT in the city every day - was ineligable for Centrelink, park it, get Maccas lunch) etc occassionally see a movie.

Now i have an LS1 - admittedly not on LPG, and $50 will put in half a tank, get me just over 250kms - absolutely disgusting! Then parking levies, extra on the road costs,

Damn fuel prices... the ea runs on 98.. usually Ultimate or Vortex.. ID run optimax but we dont f*&king get it in SA. cars runs better and i get more k's per tank.. depending on my driving style for that week :P

I was getting around 460km a tank on 91 now im up 2 550-570k's on 98 i think its worth the extra $5-$10

I get fed up with idiots who sarcastically drawl about my car "I bet that chews up the petrol!".... "I bet you're loving fuel prices at the moment" or equally stupid remarks. They envy my engine and the fun I get out of it - try to comfort themselves with economics - GET OVER IT! It's dual-fuel, has the symbol on the number plate. It costs me around $28 on average to fill up. Sydney is a society of V8-o-phobes!!!!!

Have to use Caltex cause that is what the fleet uses

Only use ULP cause thats all the 6 needs to buzz along, no benefit from PULP

Get about 750-850km from a tank. Tanks worth $80 in metro, $100 out in the backyard

using optimax extreme 100oct at the moment.. great fuel, smoother, quieter and more power. (and only 8 times the price!)

i think 100oct needs to be updated to the poll as an option

i use optimax. car seems to prefer it. i drive lpg xf to work now, not as much for the fuel as mileage. i picked up the xr on 12/4/06 with 66ks on it now it has 10000 so i'm driving the $800 bomb. its 50ks each way to work for me.
