Another Nullarbor run, some themes:
Lots of Aussie cars in service/out to pasture amongst the farms and towns in Western Vic. I noticed a sprinkling of FG1's, and VYs, enough of them to begin tallying. SE SA continued this theme, although the Landrover sightings spiked toward the Coonawarra. The back hills way was done to enjoy the drivers' roads up behind Adelaide. On the road up to Port Augusta, more VYs and VFs. Also a few VE2s, and a mint VXII SS. The top of the Eyre Peninsula was once again Toyota country, the covid Rigs (eg Hilux with 20K of aftermarket hardcore 4x4 additions) of Christmas travellers replacing the farmers' 76 series dominance of an August trip. A couple more FG1's. Ceduna to Norseman, it was a lot of Christmas travel, so noticed newer SUVs and things like Golfs, Prados. And Territories made a consistent appearance throughout, SZ models. There was a totally rekt, rolled over van somewhere within 150km east of the WA border, where all the cliffs are. Norseman to Kal, spotted mint BA XR8. Coolgardie through to the wheatbelt into Perth, the FG1's came up in occurrence, and by that stage were vying with the undying VY for the 'most spotted Aussie car' title. More Territories, too. Last time, many Toyota hybrids - Camry, Corolla, RAV4 - not so many this time. Perhaps that is because people are on holidays and not driving a hire car for work? So: FG1 for the win in Aussie car spotto. Other theme was just how dark the tinting of the covid Rigs has got. Merry Christmas all!

I saw a white Ford taxi this morning.
Were there ever Territory taxis? I have a vague idea I saw some in the past. |

I still see FG and FGX G6 sedans as taxis- the Silver Service variety.

Couple days ago I saw an FGX police car parked outside a Supercheap Auto. Looked like a country car with light bar and a bit of red dust on it.

Really an fgx say 2016. Wow that could be the last FGX police car in Aus. Did you get a photo?
It makes me sad. I was just looking at an internet news feed and there was a nsw story with a pic of a Nsw HP BMW. It just doesnt seem right that our gov service vehicles are not Aus made anymore. |

A while back, there was a thread with a link to vehicle registration numbers for various Fords (maybe other makes) Found it: https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11476545 I was wondering if the above could be made a sticky thread for enthusiasts here to see how rare their favourite Ford is becoming, I was shocked to see how few EBs are still on the road, I have a pearl black 5.0 Fairmont. I used to own this mirror and I notice one for sale, well it's only $323 but for an old mirror, I am not that sentimental |

Today I saw a nice Holden ute. On the way back I stopped for a better look. Red, base model, simple steel rims, very clean, four horizontal bars to the grille, what I thought would be a VN or VP ute ... but from Wiki I learnt that it's called a VG. Raised roof line - for the Akubra hats? It was in really nice condition; looked great. Full Vic reg, B/W plates.

I was parked at the beach yesterday. I counted 20 vehicles, two were cars the rest were SUVs and utes. My Fairlane was the only Aussie made car.

I have also made the same observations. Five years after the last car was built in Australia their presence on Australia's roads is fast reducing. Look at www.carsales.com.au and you will see how few Falcons are for sale these days.

Also starting to see a few BA/BF wagons & the occasional sedan starting to be used as taxis in Melbourne again, given that there are no longer age restrictions for taxis here. |

Melbourne to become Havana of the south, with classic Falcons zooming around as taxis

550 XR6's 850 XR8's Not surprised not many Falcons on Carsales because they are keepers, XR's/G6's etcetc you name it not many want to move them on. Its been 6yrs since the last builds and very sad. What I noticed for myself having to update the daily sometime this year and doing some window shopping, I would have just gone to my Ford dealer and ordered the next Falcon LE or whatever came to be. Now I'm do I want another Dual Cab ?, or a wagon or SUV. Damn mosh pit.

As hard as it was. I would have got the wagon, but the better half preferred the sedan. Either way I am not disappointed. Territory is still in the driveway
