For some unexplained reason they extended the length of the seat base to the point that it rubbed constantly on the back of my knees and made long periods of driving rather uncomfortable and I'm not a short bloke. Thankfully they revised it in later models The series 3 seat was a lot better. |

better brake package all-round.
reloacte the alternator from underneath a constantly leaking power steer reservoir. better sunvisors. And stronger internal rear vision mirrors ... the buggers break and fall off. Also ... better radiators that don't have a design fault and leak coolant into your trans fluid lines killing the auto in the process. Just a few things that come to mind.

Mainly to do with AU I - the front of the forte and the terrible brakes. I am happy with everything on the AUII. (Though I have or will be replacing the majority of it lol)

From a series II owners point of view thing/s that should of been better IMO are the handbrake, slight blind spot from the door pillars, better brakes would of been nice and the boot strut mounts tent to rust, little thing but I think every model from all car manufacturers have room for improvement.

Well I disagree about S1 XR front end, the S2 and 3 is nicer but with the full bodykit and bi plane, the S1 is the best bodykit of the entire history of the XR falcon models
And better than T series as well The design of the roof is beautiful IMO. Interior materials on doors, dash and console lid are better than the B series The trans piece in the middle is crappy material though. I reckon the E series fairmont, fairlane and XR's had the nicest interior materials.

Probably the way in which the AU was marketed. Everyone knew about the waterfall grille AUI Forte that appeared in all the ads yet very few knew what a TS or a TE50 was.

make the tail lights more square with the line of the boot, aka BA style. I've never minded the side or front of the AU, in fact i quite like the AU2/3 front, but the back end looks pretty unfortunate on the best examples. I'll admit that the T2 TE/TS's onwards look pretty damn hot with the "hawk" ? spoiler.

Have a shorter stroke, wider bore DOHC 4.0 liter. Might not tow as well but I don't even have a tow bar so what do I care

Well handbrake's been said
Diff Gears have been said (should be 3.23 not 3.08) Stereo size and crappyness has been said AU1 grille has been said I don't agree with ride height. Sure, it looks crook but it's super functional. 15" on the AU1's should never have happened So i'll just say crap eletronics (door actuators, hard to get to backlight bulbs etc)

I don't have any problems with handbrake use or look of it.
As for diff gears, 3.08 is magic for economy AU1 forte grille - painted as mine was looked good but the headlights ruined it mag wheels should of been standard, god it's the 21st century. they should ban wheel covers. Stereo - I'm not one for big audio systems but I've never been dissappointed with the XR stereo.

power steering is to bloody light...the odd drive in my dad's BA makes me realise just how light the AU's steering is - and how much nicer the BA's feels to me
