That awsome, so why was it just left like that with no security? I couldn't find any posts about how the guy originally found it or what the story was.

Yeah ive read about this one as well, ill try to dig up another link i had of this plant.

What i find incredible is that they must keep fresh pain flowing through steam heated pipes in the plant, if it stops the plant is essentially buggered as the pain solidifies.

Its so sad the rover story though, there was still positive signs for the futurem upgraded KV6 motors, Rover 40 replacement and the Vaanden Plas Limo.

That would be great if you could find some more links about it, it's certainly intriguing.

Yeah what happened was when The Management of Rover signed their papers for bankrupcy at 1:15pm on the wednesday, it also voided their insurance adn and their licenses etc so as soon as they signed it noone could continue production or be on the property so as soon as the plant got told of the bankrupcy it stopped production adn everybody had to leave then and there. And thats why it was left the way it was. As for the take over its still in progress but its been abandoned for over a year or two.

Just reflects upon the British manufacturing industry as a whole. Greedy shareholders and management thinking of themselves, taking away assets so the company can no longer re-invest and function properly.

Happens here too!! Ansett.

No bloody way! Is that even possible in this day and age?

I could spend days just walking about taking it all in. Spooky but very, very interesting stuff.

How cool would it be to build your own car?!? Make sure everything is spot on and aligned properly. You can buy BF shells from a place down in Melbourne I saw in the car parts peddler. could do it ;)

Pretty shameful to see so much useful stuff sitting there going to waste. We could have the cars here, so as to get some Vn bogans off the road.

I followed the link to that site and have been looking around that site. Very interesting forum. Find it fascinating the things these guys have found. This story is also very interesting. Its like time stood still. All those cars, 2 years sitting there doing nothing. I'd love to take a look around that place. Just like a ghost town.

Look at the monthly and year to date sales figures, and they make us look like the ones abandoning vehicles!

So strange and sad how everything was just left there...look like bits of Chernobyl - frozen in time.

All the stuff lying around would be accounted for somewhere on Rovers books and would be included the price.....but is so strange that its is all just lying about....I'm sure that plenty has already walked. Set of wheels, tyres, tools....I didn't see anything in the pics that could walk.

I had a look around the forum site too...fascinating stuff. Where could you explore in Aus that is like that?

Interesting pictures and story. The place has just frozen in time. Would be so much to explore and see, so much history. Would have been bloody hard on the workers.

There are a few places like old hospitals around the place, and a lot of "urban explorers" have an interest in tunnels under Melbourne. Apparently they are some of the best tunnel-networks in the world...

I'd be more interested to do it in European countries - there are quite a few images from abandoned castles, for example.

In my Mick (crocodile) Dundee voice…

“Some idiot put two bloody birdbaths in the men’s toilets” :

On a serious note.

This would have been absolutely devastating for the workers as many wouldn’t have any chance of employment after this place shut down. These are incredible, but very sad pictures. :(
