My base idle seems fine, it just is a little irregular.

Did you also clean the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve and ports whilst cleaning out the throttle body as well??

Now, if only I knew what and where they were, I'd be eager to give them a clean and see if that solves the problem. : Any help there? Also, on another note, I don't seem to be able to find a dipstick to check my auto transmission fluid. Does it even have one? :

Trans was a sealed unit - no dipstick. Check from under the car.
If you like, PM me your fax number, and I'll fax through to you the pages from the manual on the IAC... |

Don't have a scanner unfortunately. Someone else might??? Page 113 of the Gregory's manual.
It is held on to the top of the throttle body by two bolts - you'll need an allen key to take it off. Undo the wiring first. Use carby cleaner to clean the ports out. Also make sure the gasket is in good nick prior to reinstallation. Don't forget to reconnect the wiring when done! |

Carby cleaner or throttle body cleaner - does a better job than degreaser. Available at any autoparts shop.

well after all the peers saga with rough idle etc all it turned out to be was the TPS she drove the car in and they told her in 10min so part is on order
and will be done on monday ford said it has been a common problem lately. So might pay to get it checked out unless you can test TPS ya self?? if so it would be good to know how. Kane |
