It was like holden and ford I agree, I was always a Nintendo boy, so Mario gets my vote, although sonic on the megadrive was pretty fun too.

NES, SNES, Mario, all the way, had every mario game I could get my hands on!
Super Mario Bros 3 by far the best, followed by Mario 64... |

Tough call. Sonic was a great game, probably a little bit more fun than Mario. Donkey Kong owns them both

The old NES was great, it's still kicking about somewhere in good functioning order Mario gets my vote, 'coz the gameplay was better and there was a more vast selection of games across the NES/SNES platform.

Mario - the levels were better designed, the difficulty curve was JUST right, and all the mario games had much better repeat play value once you had beaten them compared to Sonic.
My opinion, others milage may vary.

I was a sega man, through and through. Sonic was a great platformer.. but it always me to tears how much better street fighter 2 and MKII was on SNES... and donkey kong was the icing on the cake...
But in sega's dying days, virtua racing was king of all!

Sonic, sonic and lets see, sonic. I was a Sega kid all the way and thought nintendo was gay. I made my choice and I stand by it, time is going to tell on that one.

It was all about Mario for me because – and boy will this show my age – I adored Mario on my Game and Watch handheld.
Does anybody else remember Nintendo GAME and WATCH?? |

The only console I ever owned was a Sega Master System II... and the only games I had was the built in Alex the Kid in Miracle World.. and California Games.
If I had to pick though... Mario > Sonic.

Sonic for me. Heaps of levels, easy gameplay - and it was fast too.
And anyone else play Toe Jam and Earl on the megadrive? Got into that a bit. |
