which model you looking at getting

let me put it this way there are really good..specs are the same as any dell/hp but its the equipment they use thats sooo good

there are some asus forums, though the help desk would be american or asian (taiwan, china, japan or something)

Ok.

Haven't found a model yet. My g/f's laptop went swimming in a salt water pool and they place we dropped it off to get a repair quote(it'll have to be replaced) is an ASUS dealer. I'd never heard of them. We're not sure if we will actually get an ASUS one or not..

hi mate just bought a asus a3f a few weeks back, highly recommend them specs are:

intel duo cpu t2300
15 "xga screen
multi dvd burner
wireless 802.11 a/b/g+ blue tooth
512 mb ram+ shared graphics. i dont want it as a games machine
60 gb hard drive
built in microphone and web camera
card reader
4 usb 2.0 ports
also has an audio dj which enables instant playback of music without booting the laptop up.
plenty of software included.
come with a mouse, asus carry bag and a wireless 4 port router
2 year warranty and i got another 2 years extended warranty for all parts and labour.
i paid $1498.00 all up which i thought was pretty good. may not be everyone cup of tea but it suits my neads nicely. :

I have an ASUS. I think they are great value for money. Top specs without the top dollar. When I buy my next lappy, it will probably be an Asus again. The design is also great and its well built. My lappy doesnt crash like some of me mates.

I've had an Asus A2500H laptop for just over 2 years now and highly recommend them. Not sure if they all do, but mine came with a 2 year warranty (double what most others have) and this really tipped things in its favour. The downside is that there are not a lot of official agents around so everything has to go to Sydney (if in NSW) to get repaired. Don't know if its the same with other brands but can be a bit of a pain if its just something small to be looked at. That said, customer service seems quite good and the one time I did get it repaired it was only gone for a week all up.

I will definately be looking at them again when its time to upgrade

Yeah I have one and as all have said above it's a great reliable machine, have never has an issue with it and will probably but another one.

I had a Dell last year and in the first 2 weeks the hard drive crashed and had to be replaced then my cdrw stopped working and had to be replaced. The thing would freeze for no reason and Dell couldn't work out why and would not replace under warranty do I just bought my Asus because I needed the reliability.

One of my mates got an ASUS laptop, for gaming, and it handles it pretty well. Seeing as you're not getting it for gaming, you probably wouldn't have the only problem he has, which is that it gets pretty damn warm at times. i.e. when nearing the end of a LAN party, he has to shut the thing down for a while to cool it off.

i have an asus at home and we just bought a couple for our office staff they ar the best i have used. and one of my mates is a dealer (mates rates woot). i want the new carbon fibre one or the yellow lambo one.
