I will be in sydney that week and am thinking of running my 3V ghia that night.
anyone wanna come out and say hi ? as I have never raced at WSID before, some hints would be nice. If nothing else would be good to see a quick 3V.

A few people I know who run very consistant times and more importantly MPH is on average 2 or 3 MPH higher in the left lane than the right at WSID. |

How about go getting your self a trap speed chart and see for your self simple physics to determain your exact mph. Just because its a world class track dosnt mean its perfect, nocking the beams can throw out mph for some cars but not others because of what part of the car its hitting, very precice timing equipment therefor much be set precicly. Street meets they couldnt care less, aint talking about comp meets. Not always out out of about 20 time Ive been there in the last year its been out about 4-5 times and always noticed after a big meet its on the money. |

If the car in the right lane does the last 320' quicker than the car in the left lane and is pulling away slightly while crossing the line, how can it be doing 2-3 mph slower according to the time slip???? This has happened several times, doesn't matter whether it is Wade or myself in the right lane. Explain how this is possible and I might go along with the urban myth theory.

Well I may explain a couple things, The beams are supposed to be tripped by the front wheels. Some cars these days have spoliers that low that they can trip the beams, there fore if it just trips them they may sometimes trip from the wheels and sometimes trip onthe spoiler. This is why in the ANDRA rules the front overhang of a car is regulated. Remember the dodge Daytona ( road runner ) of a few years ago that had massive front overhang ( yet was factory, so didn't need altering) that is when that rule was explained.
Personally i wouldn't go spreading rumors about a track, unless it was dead accurate. You may find for all ANDRA events the beams heights and positions are realigned.

Since I have only raced at ANDRA events where the beams must be tripped by the tyres only it does point to the possibility that the low street cars are tripping the beams with front spoilers before the tyres. |

He is talking about Steve. I believe that they set the beams up correctly for the ANDRA events and there is no error there, but for the Wed nights it is a different matter. Steve quite often races on Wed nights and has said on several occasions that the mph is not correct. He has come up with a calculator for checking your trap speed and with his background in physics and the datalogging he does, I would not disagree with him. He has also said that he has something in writing from WSID which explains the problem. He has talked about this at length on another forum he participates in. Next time you see him ask him about the problem.

thought it must be Steve, he races hard . He beat me by a few hundreths in the semis at his first bracket meet and has done very well since. I know he uses wednesday nights as a test bed for bracket meets and if the traps were out he would know. If thats whats happening at street meets you should complain. Even though its only grudge racing you want to know exactly whats going on with your car.

Sorry didn't mean it like that, just other people take some of this as gospel,by rights the beams almost should be set lower for street meets
