that proto type and a few of those cars are really nice and some even had keys in em ready to go
would be a shame to see them rust out wink.gif

i think though since the threads etc they have found out and have tighten security up abit more, but it def would be cool to get a looksie before they tale everything and destroy it.

Amazing.

Some of those cars are ready to be driven away !

It's like there was a plague and eveyone just up and left instantly....

In the end it seems so sad and a huge waste. It shows how much money they were losing in the end.

Talking Abandoned Car Factory

I saw that factory - I believe it was 60 minutes. All the factory machinery (production line) has been moved to China, where they are building the MG. :

You'd think they'd atleast scrap all the unused products.

I'd have driven away in the sports car that was ready to go

Amazing to think in this day and age that a company would be left like that, there would be millions of dollars worth of stock and infrastructure sitting in that factory doing nothing.

those pics are 4-8 weeks old
i highly doubt they moved all that gear in that time
not only was their a tunnel 3miles long appaently theres spare parts/bodies/cars etc lying all over that place.

they might of shipped the machines and the running vehicles but in some of those pics they (chinese) are smashing up perfectly good shells?

its a ghost town i would love to go look at for syre

The smashed up cars were regulatory crash cars, as evidenced by the contrast colours and the reference markers for the hi speed cameras.

It would be cheaper to scrap it and start again that try and send all the stuff to China.
Those Rover factories are 50+ years old.

50 years old?

Longbridge is nearly 100! It is one of the largest car plants in the world.

However the facilities from what I can see are pretty modern, due mainly to Honda's influence. They certainly look more modern than Broadmeadows, which is basically falling apart.
