a nice DARK grey or a darker silver
look at the WH statesmans alot of them were 2 toned with a dark colour at the bottom of the doors and what ever other colour on the rest of the car possibly post up a pic of exactly what your trying to paint.. is it just the front bar insert from the TL50 and the lip along the bottom edge of the stock bumper

the bar insert, sills, and the lower lips on the front and rear bars. i thought of grey but not sure whether to go light or dark. if i go dark it always makes the car look like it is sitting higher than it should.

Not true. As on white cars paint a light silver such as "Ford lightin strike" or the brown gold colour use on the AU Fairmont. It will blend nicly.
