ME is a Australian made home stereo amp worth about 10k.

I had a listen to one tonight.........Sensational

And while my amp is being fixed I was given a loan of a ME 200.

Rick.......I am very surprised (maybe I shouldn't be) that 200 is a superb little amp.

When mine comes back maybe I should do a comparison between them.

I was initially thinking of this: R

$10k is a lot of bank for a sound system!!! But I'm a cheaparse and would just buy a $50 CD player :P Hang on... my 10-year-old one has been broken for 6 months now and I haven't gotten around to fixing it, or buying a new one... Pfft

Hmmmm... My first thought was that you're a salesman for ME trying to get a cheap plug..... You're not are you?

I doubt he's going to get many sales around here at that price if he is!

CD goes in the DVD player and the surround sound gets turned on around here if I want something loud. :P

Goddamn, that is just wrong. How many ppl are starving across the world and he spends 30 grand on some music? ****ER.

And you are not faring too well either.

Do what I did. Back in 1979 my folks spent $1000 on a Pioneer stereo system (their first and last major stereo purchase). It is still a fantastic system... and a year or two ago now I found the exact same stereo system at a garage sale for $30. Yes, $30. I knocked em down to $20 and my parents were pished lmfao.

It is brilliant and I have put my dvd player through it. You should hear the floor shake... my kids' friends come over to watch movies cos it outperforms their parents' surround sound.

Stuff paying that amount of money on stereos. I love music (one of my fave hobbies - have 20GB of it in my HD), but it doesn't have to cost the earth!

Now that is smart thinking. Some of those early 80's systems were awesome too. My Dad still has one from the late 80's and I'm constantly reminding him that its mine when/if he ever updates.

How is he a ****er. If you earn the big bucks and you would too. And the son is goin to be a rich mofo soon aswell hits the jackpot when he turns 21 gets $5 million. Set for life but he is damn smart and if hes goin down the same road as his dad workn hard hes goin to earn a lot more than that in his lifetime aswell.

Uh I don't think I could justify spending 30K on a stereo, mate. I think if I ever were that rich I'd remember where I came from and give a fair chunk to charity (I do already and I don't earn that much) cos God only knows they need it (as have I in the past).

Affluenza is a serious concern, specially in Sydney. How boring is it, hearing about how little Johnny's parents may not be able to afford to give him a new Porsche when he gets his L's, with the interest rate hikes and all... instead he may have to have a Lexus. Poor poor baby! :

I am sick of ppl trying to desperately keep up with the Joneses, there's no point. And the whole place is affected by this materialism and concern for what other people think... LIKE IT MATTERS?!

Ha. The same as my olds. Grew up listening to my records on it and 25 years later they've still got it! Still works like the day they bought it.

.................!
: : :togo: : :

As far as I know this is a free country with an option of doing what we want when we want with our money.

Good luck to him, them or whoever, if they have earned their money, born with a silver spoon, I really don’t care, they have the freedom to make their own choice.

No one should be condemned for buying what he or she wants.

Personally I am happy with my clock radio as a stereo at home, but will spend whatever on a stereo for my car, and I rather spend it on me as I have to endure the workload to make the money.

And before you start, I donate to several charities a year.

True but it's just such a waste imho... and nobody should be called Weird for expressing an opinion either. It's the inequalities in the world that get my goat I guess - 5% of ppl own 95% of the world's wealth?! There are little babies dying the world over cos they can't get food or clean water or any form of medical care and these rich ppl consider which company they're gonna own next? :

Ok I'll shut up now :newangel:

Your right my Amp is a Hitachi black thing that is larger then any other component ive got for my home theatre. its from 1979 and I got it from my primary school when they were going to turf it, its bass and treble is amazing, and with 2x 12" subs comming off it, it vibrates the walls (P.S i have shitty walls :P) I had a newish Pioneer Pro logic amp a while back and ditched it as the old Hitachi worked better

Like you I have an opinion, like you I have expressed it, like you I live in a country that allows us to do this.

I make my own difference to the world in my own way, its nothing compared to the big picture.

When people can't justify buying something, it is usually because that can't afford it !

it went from : to stereos then to social injustice :P

what an odd way to start a thread...

bindi, by the same token, someone could say that, why should you spend your money on a computer, when you could save a shit load of kids from starving?

this guy has a shit load of cash, so $30k isn't so much to him....
if you're not as wealthy as he is, and u spend $1-2k on a computer, then its no different.

and who's to say he doesnt give a shit load to charity?
