I'm regularly getting "(website address) could not be found" notices when I try to go to a site in Firefox. I know I have spelt the site right and usually just hitting enter a few more times gets it there, but is there any way to stop it from doing this? Its getting really annoying!

Let me guess... Your ISP is Telstra.
Telstra have major issues with their DNS servers timing out.

Close but you're way off - my ISP is TPG and I'm on Dialup
![]() I dont think its a connection issue as everything else i.e. MSN is working fine and usually if the connection is no good MSN will be the first to die. Some nights its worse than others (tonight is rather bad hence my asking for advice) but it only seems to be Firefox going stupid and not working to find anything online.

I can't see how Firefox could be the culprit, it doesn't do any name resolution.
Your connection might be good so msn will work fine, it would be only new sites whose addresses are not cached that give you the problems. have you had a look at whirlpool.net.au to see if others on TPG have DNS issues ? I just had a quick look and found these: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...?t=336541&p=-1 http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...?t=336945&p=-1 TPG haveing a few performance issues, I think this is whats causing your DNS timeouts..
