I had it done, as mentioned earlier in the thread. They do put you under but not full general anaesthetic. Just the twilight version.

Took a couple of months for things to improve and now I'm a lot better. In general day to day life I rarely think about my back any more. I have periods where it flares up again but mostly it's ok. It still gives me grief when I do physical activity like gardening, washing cars, riding etc but the threshold has been raised. I can do more before it plays up.

The pain specialist I saw was a Dr Kang at Calvary in the city.
