I had the same issue with my 2007 Ford Focus 2.0 manual. I took the throttle body off and cleaned that which has helped a lot. Just be really careful not to move the butterfly in the throttle body as they are a drive by wire unit and if the butterfly is moved it can break the teeth inside which means having to replace the whole unit which is expensive. My car is also having a intermittent egr code so I will be cleaning out the egr soon which can also cause similar issues. Hope this info helps
