I was on Fraser around 10 years ago (a week after the Olympic torch went through as the track was still nicely graded) with a bunch of Uni friends. I can't remember where we stayed specifically (as in, the name) but we were in these modern looking 3-4 bedroom houses made with timber and corrugated iron. There was a cluster of them, at the top of a windy, steep road.
At the bottom of that road was the eating hall, a bar and eventually the water and the dock....
One night, after a dinner and a few drinks myself and a friend decided to head back. It was pretty late, and we had just missed the shuttle van that takes people up and down the steep road.
We thought, bugger it, we will walk it. After around 200 metres we stopped for a breather half way up the slope.
I heard some rustling... I couldn't believe it, but we had been stalked by 4 or 5 dingoes in the scrub along the road. I had heard them a few min earlier but couldn't see them, and pretended to not hear them or the girl I was walking up with would have freaked.
I can still remember it, looking through the scrub and watching them stare back... I kept my cool and suggested that we just walk back down and wait for the next bus, as we were both a little merry and tired from a busy day. Walking back, they tracked us back another 20-30 metres then that was the end of it. The whole time the girl I was walking with didn't know, nor did I tell her.
I was only on Fraser for 3 or 4 nights, but saw
many people feeding the dingoes and leaving food out for them for that perfect photo opportunity....

Shame this has happened to the little girl..
